WASHINGTON, D.C. – The latest revelation from the FBI that Hillary Clinton is back under investigation for improper use of a private  email server has prompted Iowa Senator Charles Grassley to seek an explanation into the matter.

Senator Chuck Grassley made the following statement late last week regarding a letter from FBI Director James Comey connected to the newly-invigorated investigation into the personal email server and emails of Hillary Clinton.

“The letter from Director Comey was unsolicited and, quite honestly, surprising. But it’s left a lot more questions than answers for both the FBI and Secretary Clinton. Congress and the public deserve more context to properly assess what evidence the FBI has discovered and what it plans to do with it. I’ve asked for a briefing from the FBI.”

The FBI is looking into emails from Clinton’s private email server that showed up on a Clinton associate’s laptop computer.

With just days left until the November 8 election, polls show Clinton’s Republican rival Donald Trump closing the gap on Clinton’s once-large lead, and possibly leading in key states. Political pundits now say Trump is having a field day with this latest FBI announcement and the revelation has taken the pressure off of him to explain alleged sexual misconduct charges and merely focus on Hillary Clinton’s email issue.

Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, has taken the matter head-on and asked the FBI for any and all information on its latest foray into her email server use. She is also diverting attention to alleged ties between Trump and Russia, saying “That’s what’s on the ballot this year. It’s not just my name and Donald Trump’s name. It’s our future. Our security. Our values. With the election just 8 days away…Trump should immediately disclose all of his ties and connections to the Kremlin and its associates.”
