Clear Lake trucker involved in two-vehicle accident this weekend

ambulanceODEBOLT, IOWA – A Clear Lake truck driver was involved in what appears to a be a head-on collision Sunday in Sac county that ended with an Iowa woman airlifted to a hospital.

Sac County Sheriff’s officials responded to a two-vehicle accident on Sunday morning October 30th. The accident was reported at 8:35am and happened 5 miles east of Odebolt on Hwy 175.

64-year old Gary Bauer of Clear Lake, Iowa was operating a 2007 Peter Built semi hauling a tanker trailer and was westbound on Hwy 175. 54-year old Christen Zimbelman of Odebolt was traveling east on Hwy 175 in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix when she crossed the center line. Bauer attempted evasive action but both units collided and came to rest in the south ditch. Zimbelman was transported to Loring Hospital and then airlifted to a Sioux City hospital. Bauer was not injured in the accident.

Responding to the accident were ambulances from Odebolt and Lake View as well as fire departments from Odebolt, Lake View and Early.
