MASON CITY – Shots may have been fired Sunday night near a Mason City hotel that has it’s share of police visits, leading to an investigation.

Police tell NIT that Sunday night at 8:27 PM, there was a report of shots fired outside the America’s Best Value Inn, located at 24 5th Street SW. Police converged on the scene, and a number of people saw them with flashlights, searching the area.

According to a spokesman, “police spoke to people who reported hearing possible gunshots but there were no direct eye-witnesses and no victim. No evidence was located at the scene.”

The drama didn’t end there, though. Police say that Monday morning at 11:26 AM, “police received a call that an unknown man (private citizen) was in the same hotel looking for the person who was involved with last night’s shooting. Police went down and spoke to the subject who was uninjured.”

The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the MCPD at 641-421-3636.
