CLARKSVILLE, IOWA – A Clarksville farmer crashed his pickup truck and was taken to a Waverly hospital, the second such crash he’s been involved in.
The latest accident took place on October 20 at about 3:11 PM. James Harland Leerhoff, a 65-year-old farmer from Clarksville, was traveling east on County Road C-13 at 31342 County Road C-13 when his 2009 Dodge Ram left the roadway and entered the south ditch. The pickup went through a fence before striking a tree and coming to rest. The pickup was pulling a grain wagon that detached upon impact.
Mr. Leerhoff was injured as a result of the crash, and the Iowa State Patrol says he did not appear to be wearing a seatbelt. He was transported to Waverly Health Center by Clarksville Ambulance as a result of the crash for undisclosed injuries.
Back in February of 2013, Mr. Leerhoff was driving a pickup truck south of Charles City when he lost control. His wife, Sharon, was a passenger. The vehicle was said to have rolled up to three times, and both Leerhoffs were seriously injured. The Waterloo Courier reported at the time that “Sharon broke two vertebrae and a rib and wears a brace from her neck to pelvis. James broke several ribs and also suffered injuries to his sternum, pelvis and neck.”
