MASON CITY – A family disagreement turned physical Tuesday night, leading to yet more violence on the streets of River City.

Two men were witnessed struggling outside a house along 6th Street SW Tuesday evening, October 18. The violent confrontation came to blows, and folks in cars were pulling over to take a gander at the hostilities. A third man was seen standing over the two combatants, were at one point on the ground. Obscenities were being shouted.

Mason City police say that at 6:24 PM, officers were called to the scene. They arrived to the 1000 block of 6th Street SW. They tell NIT that “relatives got into a physical fight after a family disagreement. No one wished to press charges.”

Officers separated the men involved, who were not named, “and made sure they were dispersing and that there would be no more disturbances,” police elaborated.

Not long thereafter, the officers would be dealing with a shooting not far away.
