Two dead in car crash near Floyd

iowa-state-patrol-logo-doorFLOYD – Two people from Charles City lost their lives in an auto crash Friday evening outside Floyd.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash took place just before 5:00 PM Friday at the intersection of Highway 18 and Lancer Avenue, west of Floyd.

Collie Gallop, age 25 of Forest Lake, Minnesota, was driving a 1995 Ford pickup westbound on Highway 18. Marilyn Wulff, age 75 of Charles City was southbound on Lancer Avenue, driving a 2001 Honda Civic, and allegedly failed to obey a stop sign at the intersection. A collision then occurred, and the pickup truck struck the Civic in the driver’s side.

As a result of the crash, Marilyn Wulff and a passenger, 14-year-old Jaden Wulff of Charles City, were injured and taken by AMR Ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Mason City. Both later died from their injuries. The crash report states that neither were wearing seat belts.

The Iowa State Patrol continues to investigate the crash. Assisting the Iowa State Patrol was the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Rudd Fire, Floyd Fire and Rescue, and AMR Ambulance.
