MASON CITY – You asked, so we looked into it.
NIT was alerted to an on-going situation at the Mason City post office. Some of what we were told is true, some of it (so far), has not yet been confirmed.
What we do know is that there is an on-going investigation at the Mason City post office involving the Postmaster, Scott Pardoe. According to Corporate Communications at the United States Postal Service, an “active administrative matter” is under investigation involving Mr. Pardoe.
When asked about certain possible activities at the Mason City post office brought to our attention, the Corporate Communications commented, “Scott Pardoe is the Mason City Postmaster, the active administrative matter prevents me from commenting further.”
Mr. Pardoe has been a postal employee since July 1995 (starting in Cedar Rapids), and was made Postmaster in Mason City in February of 2007. Prior to that, he was Postmaster in Lake Mills, Iowa, beginning in August of 2003. His current salary is $94,448.
NIT will report more on this matter if and when more information is made available.

All pubic servants who do not make 55k per year are entitled to over time. Those RR who make over 95 k are usually engineers who are on call 24/7 and these old birds usually don’t have a long life expenctancy’
You have to look at the salary and see the hard work that they put in. Not only do they have to do hard manual labor they deal with all the weather; Rain, Heat, Snow and Cold. I’m sure most of them would love to see one of us try to do their job. Just think if you would be willing to do that job. I talked to a carrier years ago to see what the job was like and after hearing about it I decided not to pursue it. He said it took him 9 years just to make regular (have his own route) then he has at least 30 more years of doing the same thing to get his full benefits. I don’t know about you all but that is a lot of damage to consider, not to mention it take almost 13 years after becoming a regular to reach the highest pay rate. Plus they are on a different retirement plan now, it is called the TSP (basically an IRA). So their retirement pretty much depends on how much money they can save themselves. I’m pretty sure that the still have insurance premiums just like those of us who get insurance though our employers. In short yes they are pretty well compensated but it isn’t the easiest job nor safest for their own health.

Well it’s an important job with a high level of responsibility with several employees that report to him, it’s not like he’s flipping burgers at McDonalds. So of course he’s going to have a high salary. Plus, the Mason City Post Office does a pretty good job.

As you can see (FAT CAT) where in the world can you make that kind of money + another 12,000 for health insurance dental care and retire with 80% of your working salary and free insurance. UNFRIGGIN BELIEVABLE. Still think the working class are not getting screwed by the public servants.

95000 with all the benefits for life? Who other than teachers, fireman, police, patrol, and all the other government people? Please give us examples of who makes this type money and benefits?
And how many of those burger flippers need knee and elbow replacement? How many deal with temperatures above 110 at one time, then -50 with wind chill at another. People think working at the post office us so easy. Well it literally destroys your body. So I would say they deserve to have good health insurance and benefits.

“Sad But True” is exactly right. There was a time when private business paid the best wages. Now the opposite is true. Government workers make bloated salaries with free insurance and pensions for life.
