MASON CITY – The Humane Society of North Iowa is honoring employee Rachel Garcia, who is celebrating her 30th anniversary with the organization this week.
Rachel was hired in 1986 on a part time basis to clean kennels and care for the shelter animals when the shelter was located on the north end of Mason City. Over the years, Rachel has been promoted to Kennel Manager and works full time for the organization at their location on South Birch Drive.
In the past 30 years, Rachel Garcia has provided care to almost 10,000 animals, which is the number of animals that have been adopted through the Humane Society of North Iowa since 1986. “I love taking care of the animals now as much as I did when I first started 30 years ago,” said Rachel. “Knowing that I’m helping these animals find loving forever homes is what keeps me going,” she concluded.
“It’s amazing to think about the number of animals Rachel has helped to care for in her time with us,” said Sybil Soukup, Executive Director of the Humane Society of North Iowa. “Her dedication and love of animals is evident in everything she does. We are so proud and grateful to have such a devoted employee,” concluded Soukup
