MASON CITY – A sex act at a Mason City gas station turned out to be less than pleasurable for a Des Moines teen.
Mason City police were called to the former Kum & Go convenience store at approximately 2:32 PM on March 28, 2016. Reportedly, a male was masturbating inside the gas station, located at 418 South Federal in Mason City (It is now a Yes Way store). The male allegedly exposed himself to at least one person inside the store before leaving in a blue Mercury Mountaineer. Cerro Gordo deputies located and stopped the SUV on Highway 122 west and Killdeer Avenue. Mason City Police investigated the incident at the scene and then arrested Gabriel Newell-Terren Lee, age 18 of Des Moines, for Indecent Exposure. Lee was jailed on the charge and released as the case made its way through the court system.
Lee entered a guilty plea to the charge of indecent exposure in June and was due in court on July 19 to be sentenced. However, he failed to appear and a warrant for his arrest was issued by a judge. He was later apprehended and returned to Mason City to appear in court.
Lee was given a deferred judgement in this case. He was sentenced to 2 years of probation and placed on the state’s sex offender registry. He must submit a DNA sample and pay $1,186.38 in fines and court fees.
Lee was also charged with marijuana possession in April in Polk county and sent to jail for 14 days and ordered to pay $275.00 in court costs and charges.
