Alleged bike thieves nabbed after theft Monday morning

MASON CITY – Two men allegedly stole a bicycle from the Mason City library today and were caught with the stolen property.

Mason City police say that two men were arrested Monday morning at around 10:00 AM for stealing a bicycle at the Mason City Public Library. Officers were notified that someone was tampering with a bike in the parking lot and found both men in the area. Cole Thomas Seglem, age 21 of Forest City was riding the stolen bike and Joseph Dean Andersen, age 28 of Mason City assisted Seglem in taking the bike.

Seglem was charged with theft in 4th Degree, possession of burglary tools, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Andersen was charged with theft in the 3rd Degree; enhanced due to prior theft convictions.

Both men were locked up at the Cerro Gordo County Jail.
