Mason City police warn of scam IRS calls

scam-alertMASON CITY – Mason City police are warning citizens of scam calls once again fraudsters posing as the IRS.

According to a statement from the  MCPD:

Over the past couple of weeks, we have been hearing (and receiving ourselves) scam phone calls from an automated female voice that claims to be calling on behalf of the Internal Revenue Service. The phone numbers we have heard about so far, show that they may be from from Sacramento, CA; Fillmore, CA; and Boone, IA.

If you receive these messages, please hang up. You may also comment on this post with the phone number and location it was from to alert others. Remember that legitimate business with the IRS will usually come in the form of written correspondence. It may also come through the person who you hired to complete and file your tax return.

Don’t give sensitive personal information over the phone when you are uncertain who is on the other end of the line. Take steps to protect yourself from becoming a victim.

The IRS chief who is currently on impeachment charges for targeting white minority churches just did Trump a huge favor as the TEA PARTY ENDORSED DONALD TRUMP THIS MORNING -saying Clinton only wants to grow government and cannot be trusted . — HOO RAA ! Millions more votes for the good guy.

I totally agree! The IRS is a scam .

I received this same scam call, on my cell phone, from an “IRS” agent stating a lawsuit has been filed against me. I was to press ‘5’, too, but I knew it was a scam as I had similar calls on my landline. I also get multiple calls on a weekly basis from a company wanting to ‘combine my credit card debt’…..this shows up on my caller ID as a local phone number, most recently MC Sports. Too bad some folks are gullible with these calls.
