DES MOINES – Gov. Terry E. Branstad recently announced that he appointment Eric Bookmeyer to the Enhance Iowa Board.
The Enhance Iowa Board was created through Senate File 2308, which was an act relating to economic development by establishing an Enhance Iowa Board to assume the powers and duties of the Vision Iowa Board and other duties. This bill passed the Iowa Senate 49-0 and the Iowa House 96-0. Vision Iowa is an arm of the Iowa Department of Economic Development.
The following individuals’ appointments are effective August 29, 2016 and end April 30, 2017, are unpaid and are subject to Iowa Senate confirmation.

The Enhance Iowa Board has not scheduled their first meeting date but is anticipated to meet in September 2016.

According to this Bookmeyer is not qualified to be on this board. He has no skills.
His appointment is so wrong on so many levels. Yet, an application must have been sent in. But, who else stepped up to the plate? To replace what’s wrong, there has to be someone willing to step up. This is a further slap in the face to Mason City from Branstad.
This is enough to make a grown man cry.
Why would Branstad appoint such a looser?
