MASON CITY – A Mason City man is facing two felony fraud charges, police said Thursday.
On September 1, Mason City police officers arrested 47-year-old Johnathan Francis Kofron of Mason City for two counts of insurance fraud, a class D felony.
Kofron is accused of providing fraudulent information to an insurance company to obtain homeowners insurance on a residence that he was renting. The other charge of insurance fraud alleges that in March of 2016 he filed a fraudulent claim for a lost ring with his insurance company and received over $4,200.00 from his insurer.
Kofron is currently being held for bond in the Cerro Gordo County Jail.

I could care less if the guy is a homo..And yes the man did own the Bark Break Hotel because him and the other owner which was a man but died took very great care of my wife and my dogs.. There’s even newspaper stories where both men started the business. So you need to get the stories right..

You should get your facts straight! He NEVER stole the identity of any family members. He was, in fact co-owner of BarkBreak Hotel with Dan Quinn. The newspaper article at the time of the opening was backed by ALL parties involved, not just him claiming it. It was only ever disputed when his wife went in & cleaned out the accounts after he took his life in front of her! The renters insurance issue was a common mistake a lot of people
make……they were under land contract. He was a great man with a heart of gold. Worked his butt off to make that business what it was! No matter what you see, you judgmental, homophobic jerk, he’s resting in peace now…….with his friend, Dan. 2 men took their lives, having one person in common that made them feel they had no other way to cope with the greedy person she became.

There are multiple bad checks throughout the years, but that’s only a small percentage of human criminal history. He stole the identities of all of his family members, ran up tens of thousands of dollars in debt under their names. Grand theft auto. The list goes on and on. He’s ripped off more people & businesses in Mason City than you can imagine.
