MASON CITY – Scott D. Peterson, a native of North Iowa, and a 13-year transplant resident to Mason City filed nomination papers Wednesday afternoon to be placed on the September 20th special election ballot for the vacant Mason City at-large council seat.

Peterson resides in the northwest side of Mason City with his three boys.

Peterson says he has been in many varying leadership roles throughout his life. He is a team lead at Curries in Mason City, where he also serves as an environmental auditor, helping the company maintain its ISO14001 certification. Peterson is a member of Mason City First United Methodist Church, where his passion for servant-leadership has lead him to serve on many different committees and roles at the church. He states that he has done everything from time in pulpit to leading Sunday school classes. He spent three years on the Board of Trustees at Mason City FUMC, the latter of which he served as chair to the committee, while they took on the save the tower project that helped to keep the tower a part of the main city skyline.

Peterson states that he is filing unaffiliated to a party as he sides with the issues. Peterson claims he wants to be a true representative to the people of Mason City saying, “I want to hear what the people of Mason City have to say, and hear their take on issues, that is how you give the people of Mason City a fair representation.”

Peterson also intends to manage his campaign very frugally, as he believes the taxpayers of Mason City would want their local tax dollars managed.

I guess you have to give him credit for even WANTING to run for this position!

This guy looks snekk to me

t. Snake

Scott Peterson is a fine young man.

Nope. He is a creeper and a louse.

He will never have my support.

Economic development sis stymied by our current council and mayor dummy. They vote we don’t they won’t let us. Hideous group of people. Shame on all of them

What!? This Mayor and most on this council have done more in development for this town than was done in the 20 years prior. Open your eyes.

Yeah open your eyes to dowtown which is designed to keep people intoxicated. Not only bars, but high prices for beer or drinks. So lame!

They have sacrificed the rest of the city for the downtown area and we still have nothing. It is all about what the Chamber of Commerce wants and to hell with the rest of the taxpayers.

I wish they had done a public vote on Prestage, it would have passed.

Why is he at a hotel?

For the same reason you are on NIT.

Well I do like to read the articles on NIT, so you are saying he checked into a hotel just to do that. He must not have internet at home and is using the free internet service at the hotel.

Said it before and will say it again – snake

Yeah he was on death row but was pardoned by Schwarzenneger on one condition…that he relocate to Iowa and run for city council in a few years.

The more people who enter the race, the better the chances that the present council will get who they want. I applaud the desire to serve that all the candidates have exhibited but this means a lower percentage of voters will choose the next member.

Your statement is true, but so what. That’s just the nature of things. I am glad to see what appears to be a group of intelligent forward thinkers come to the table to offset the likes of a Max Weaver. I think this group coming forward is a statement that the majority is not happy with how economic development has been stymied by a minority in this town.

Your right I’m glad too that there more candidates, that way people with get confused by all the names and just vote for Max. Good that your a Max supporter!

You are the only one who will vote for that loon.

Ditto – I think it’s great you are going to vote for him.

You must have a comprehension problem. I stated I thought it was good (that is what applaud means) so many were interested in running but my observation was it will water down the field. Max does represent a portion of this city that no one else seems to care about. He has just as much right to be on the council as any other candidate. As a life-long resident, he knows the people and he has paid his fair share. Have you?

He paid his dues and then abused them with his big mouth disrupting everything just so he can grandstand. Nothing get done when he is on the council and he lies.

No one will ever fill Alex ‘ s shoes so.. forget it!

Not hard to do. He is dead by his own hand.

shut the hell up crazy person

Good luck being an idealist in this town!
