IOWA CITY – Three people are dead today after a two-car crash on an interstate highway outside Iowa City.
The accident took place before 4 AM Tuesday, July 5, at the 10 mile marker of Interstate 380. The crash involved a Toyota and a Cadillac. The Cadillac was southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 380 when the driver lost control and went into the east shoulder. The on-coming Toyota swerved to avoid contact but the Cadillac struck the Toyota.
The Iowa State Patrol is not releasing any name opening notification of family. The accident remains under investigation.
As of July 1, 181 people had lost their lives on Iowa roadways so far in 2016. That is 37.12% higher than at the same time in 2015.
