HAMPTON, IOWA – Police in Hampton say there was no abduction involved in an incident Monday between a young couple
Earlier Monday, people in Hampton contacted NIT and described a situation in which a female was abducted from the local McDonald’s restaurant, located at 411 Central Avenue E.
However, Hampton Chief of Police Robert Schaefer clarified the situation Monday evening, telling NIT “there was not a girl abducted from McDonalds. We did have a situation involving a 17-year-old female and a boyfriend. Both have been located and are safe. That is all I can say at this time.”
The names of the two people involved won’t be released unless charges are filed due to the incident.
Well the mayor thinks he’s Jose Wales so why not more wackieness in Hampton! Hampton is proving to be two fries short of a happy meal!

Exactly, Katie. This is textbook abusive-controlling behavior, and it will only escalate. In a year or two, after the boyfriend has badly injured or killed this girl, this police chief will be on TV saying, “We had no reports of trouble.” It happens over and over and over, across the country. What’s a 17-year-old doing living with her boyfriend, BTW??
No way I heard this with my own scanner for police countywide broadcast, that a 17 year old was “taken against her will” and to use caution because he was threatening to do a murder suicide!
It may have not ended that way, but they should not play this down! This is the info released from the Hampton PD.
Ok reporter’s need to report fact that’s the same with there headlines. People believe there is actually abduction. Is it abduction or no abduction . Even when is state turns out incident with two young couples yes so what is it is this false report or what.

What it comes down to is that the cheif played it down. The reporting was fact.
If this wasn’t an abduction then why was there an amber alert issued? It was all over the scanner. I’m sure the female doesn’t want her boyfriend in trouble.
