Truck driver cited after driving into ditch

logo-iowa-state-patrolRURAL WORTH COUNTY – An Iowa truck driver may have blacked out, causing his vehicle to leave Interstate 35 and enter a ditch.

The accident happened Tuesday afternoon around 1:07 PM at the 205 mile marker of Interstate 35 in rural Worth county. Truck driver Mark Koster, age 54 of Lime Springs, was driving a 2009 International semi-tractor southbound on Interstate 35. According to the Iowa State Patrol, for an unknown reason Koster lost control of the semi truck. The report states he may have blacked out. The semi crossed the median, entered the east ditch and struck a field fence. It came to rest upright, facing southeast with the cab stopped on the fence.

As a result of the accident, Koster was cited for failure to maintain control.
