WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. House Republicans are releasing a plan not just to repeal, but to replace, Obamacare.

Saying “we need a better way and patient-centered approach,” Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins of Kansas discussed her legislation H.R. 1270, the Restoring Access to Medication Act at the weekly Republican Leadership Press Conference.

The House of Representatives is expected to vote on this legislation Thursday.

The following are Congresswoman Jenkins’ remarks:

“There are over 20 million Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Savings Accounts in America, many of which have been used for years by folks to help pay for their medical expenses. However, under Obamacare, the law changed requiring people to get a prescription from their doctors to use their Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts for over-the-counter medication.

“The end result is families spending more money to see their doctor to get basic over-the-counter medication, and doctors spending valuable time prescribing cold medicine as their more critical patients wait for attention.

“Clearly something needs to be done.

“That’s why this week, the House is expected to vote on legislation I introduced to make healthcare a little bit easier for Americans. The bill, H.R. 1270, the Restoring Access to Medication Act, repeals a provision of the Affordable Care Act that prevents folks with Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts from using their accounts to pay for over-the-counter medication.

“The legislation is bipartisan, and it is based on common sense principles. It puts healthcare cost management back where it belongs – in the hands of the American people.”

According to House Speaker Paul Ryan, “Obamacare is making things worse by the day. It drives up premiums and deductible costs for individuals, families, and businesses. It forces people off the plans they like. It fuels waste, fraud, and abuse. And it cannot be fixed. Its knot of regulations, taxes, and mandates cannot be untangled. Obamacare must be fully repealed so we can start over and take a new approach.”

GOP IDEAS:

• More choices and lower costs. Our plan gives you more control and more choices so that you can pick the plan that
meets your needs—not Washington’s mandates.
• Real protections and peace of mind. Our plan makes sure that you never have to worry about being turned away or having your coverage taken away—regardless of age, income, medical conditions, or circumstances.
• Cutting-edge cures and treatments. Our plan clears out the bureaucracy to accelerate the development of life-saving devices and therapies.
• A stronger Medicare. Our plan protects Medicare for today’s seniors and preserves the program for future generations.

Republicans in Congress have been making this same promise since the Obamacare debate started in 2009, and have never come through.

So, Republicans admit in this brand new memo that they are STILL searching high and low for ANY “market based” plan that can effectively provide health care to all Americans.

In all the world, and with all the time and money that’s been spent trying to come up with ways to provide health care for people over the last 100 years, isn’t it curious that the Republicans still have NO solution at all?

And meanwhile, they want to destroy the plan you have, and keep you from having any of the plans that every other civilized nation in the world use.

What kind of masochist do you have to be, to vote for these guys, and then pay them for this service with hard earned taxpayer dollars?

Wait a minute, Donald Trump said HE had a plan……

LOL what is this like the 123rd time they’ve introduced a bill to repeal it? Good luck Republitards! Keep spinning your wheels and wasting that tax payer money

It is going up another 26% in November this year. Get rid of it.

That comment has the distinct aroma of Bovine Fecal Matter.

It is going up, but at a slower rate than before Obamacare was introduced.

And, I just read an article from the N.Y. Post, 21 June, that said Obama is trying to gut Medicare. He’s like the energizer bunny, he keeps going and going and going until he destroys this country. If he doesn’t get it done, Hitlery will. Neither one of them have to worry about their future, economically anyway. Millions of dollars in the bank, the best of healthcare, what more could they want.

It is about time they did something about that monstrosity.
