MASON CITY – A Mason City man lost his life in a motorcycle accident Friday afternoon.
On Friday, June 17, 2016, at about 2:25 PM, the Mason City Police Department responded to a car-motorcyle collision with injuries at the intersection of 8th and North Pierce Avenue.
Police say a preliminary investigation reveals that Greg Allan Hodak, age 51, of Mason City was driving a 2005 Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcyle was northbound on North Pierce Avenue when he collided with a 2005 Toyota Corolla being driven by Susan Kay Pierce, age 74, of Mason City. Pierce was on 8th Street NW and was making a left hand turn to go south onto North Pierce Avenue.
Pierce was treated and released at the scene by the Mason City Fire Medics and Hodak was pronounced dead at the North Iowa Mercy East Campus.
Assisting at the scene were the Mason City Fire Department, Cerro Gordo County Sheriffs Department and Mason City Operations. The investigation is still ongoing.
