From Councilman Alex Kuhn:
Following the May 3rd vote citizens on all sides of the issue advocating for what they truly feel is best for the community and their efforts are to be commended. It has been our job as elected Councilman to give every aspect of the project the due diligence it deserves. That is what you elected us to do and we have continued to do so. Ultimately, we have been tasked to reevaluate a new development agreement with terms that would be a win-win for our community, our citizens, and the company moving forward.
I have been clear on my why I felt we needed a more favorable agreement in terms of wages to better reflect the industry base wage to reduce the potential of high turnover rates, and incentives so the city, county, schools, and other taxing entities would obtain a much greater percentage of the funding to meet the long term needs of infrastructure, programming, social and economic support systems. I’ve exhaustively reviewed the agreement and what changes it would take to garner my vote. It appears we are too far apart at this point and any other proposal would be very difficult for me to support.
