ISU Softball: Stacy Gemeinhardt-Cesler Will Not Have Contract Renewed

logo_iowa_state_cyclonesAMES, Iowa – Iowa State head softball coach Stacy Gemeinhardt-Cesler will not have her contract renewed at the end of the season, the Iowa State Athletics Department announced today.

The Cyclones cap off their season this weekend with a three-game series vs. Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas (May 12-14).

Gemeinhardt-Cesler coached the Cyclones for 11 seasons, compiling a 242-319-1 record. ISU is currently 20-32 overall and 1-14 in Big 12 play.

A total of 14 players have earned All-Big 12 recognition 20 times under Gemeinhardt-Cesler’s guidance, including senior Brittany Gomez, who will end her career as one of the greatest players in school history.

Gomez, who will likely be ISU’s only four-time All-Big 12 selection, is the school’s career leader in batting average (.396), hits (293), runs (164) and stolen bases (110).

Earlier this season Gomez became the first player in school history to be selected in the National Pro Fastpitch League Draft (No. 28).

Prior to her tenure at Iowa State, Gemeinhardt-Cesler was the head coach at Emporia State (2002-05), recording a 153-76 mark.
