Cyclones’ Hallice Cooke given full release to transfer

logo_iowa_state_cyclonesAMES, Iowa – Iowa State head men’s basketball coach Steve Prohm announced Monday that junior Hallice Cooke is evaluating his options and has been granted his full release to pursue transfer opportunities.

“We appreciate the effort that Hallice has given to our program,” Prohm said. “He is a good young man and our staff will do everything we can to assist him in finding the right fit.”

Cooke, a 6-3 guard from Union City, New Jersey, saw action in 32 games averaging 2.6 points in 2015-16. He transferred to Iowa State after his freshman year at Oregon State.

“I enjoyed my time at Iowa State and will cherish the relationships I made when I was a Cyclone,” Cooke said. “At this time I’m looking to find a better fit for me personally. I’d like to thank the Cyclone fans for their support the last two years.”

Prohm also confirmed that senior Jordan Ashton will graduate and transfer to another school for his final season. Ashton, who was a walk-on prior to being given a scholarship in the fall, played 24 games as a junior. The Mt. Pleasant, Iowa native averaged 1.0 points per game.
