Mason City man caught drunk driving for second time

MASON CITY – A Mason City man was stopped and arrested for drunk driving late Sunday.

A Mason City police officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at about 11:34 PM near 13th Street and North Federal Avenue. As a result of the ensuing investigation, the driver, 39-year-old Andrew Earl Lofton, had no valid driver’s license in his possession. Further investigation led the officer to discover that Lofton was intoxicated. He was placed under arrest for operating while intoxicated.

Lofton was taken to the county jail, booked and soon released. He was charged with second offense operating while intoxicated back in August of 2013. He later pleaded guilty to first offense operating while intoxicated. Records show he owes the entire $1,897.50 in fines and court costs associated with that case.
