Mason City man seriously injured in motorcycle accident

MASON CITY – An Algona resident allegedly turned her car into the path of an on-coming motorcyclist, causing a crash that left a Mason City man seriously injured.

The crash took place at 6:22 PM Saturday evening, April 2 at the 1300 block of South Federal Avenue, near the Pasta Bella restaurant private drive.  An automobile, driven by Maren Gabor of Algona, Iowa, was southbound on South Federal as a Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Tony Walker of Mason City, was northbound.  Police say “Gabor allegedly turned left in front of Walker.”

Walker’s Harley struck the passenger side of Gabor’s car.  As a result, Walker was transported to Mercy Hospital by Mason City Fire Medics with serious injuries.  Sources say he was later taken to Rochester for more treatment and remains there.

Gabor was not transported.

Gabor was cited for failure to yield upon left turn. Walker was cited for no driver’s license and no insurance.
