MASON CITY – Mason City police helped avert potential crimes when they responded to calls from concerned citizens about a man bothering a liquor store.
The incident went down March 27, when police say people reported various concerns involving 36-year-old Brandon Woodside. Apparently, Woodside was various locations within the 400 block of North Monroe south to the 0 block of North Monroe that day, and callers warned police “that he was committing or about to commit a crime at the Liquor Tobacco and Grocery store located at 18 North Monroe.
Officers responded to the area and interviewed witnesses as Woodside had already been in and left the convenience store. Soon, police located Woodside nearby at the 400 block of 2nd Street NW. He was arrested and charged with: Disorderly Conduct for his behavior inside the convenience store; Criminal Trespass for his behavior at North Iowa Transition Center property (located at 408 1st Street NW); Public Intoxication and Interference with Official Acts.
Woodside was taken to jail and later released. He has entered a not guilty plea and awaits a non-jury trial on April 28.
