Two women caught stealing at Walmart

MASON CITY – Two women were caught stealing at the Mason City Walmart and taken to jail.

A Mason City police officer was dispatched to Walmart, 4151 4th Street SW, on the afternoon of March 25 reference two subjects detained for shoplifting.

Upon arrival, the officer investigated and as a result, two female subjects were subsequently arrested and transported to the county jail.

Brianna Aleina Ayers, age 26, was charged with third degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor, due to prior theft convictions.  Her companion, Michelle Marie Swearingen, age 25 of Crystal Lake, was charged with fifth-degree theft.

Both women were taken to the jail, booked and later released pending court dates.

Ayers was caught stealing in Winnebago county in 2011.  She also faced a felony count of second-degree theft in Winnebago county last year but was allowed to plead guilty to third-degree theft instead.  She also faced a drug charge brought by Forest City police to which she also entered a guilty plea.
