Mason City man accused of felony drunk driving

MASON CITY – Police busted a Mason City man for felony drunk driving right outside their headquarters early Saturday.

A vehicle driven by 39-year-old Anthony Mark Cox was stopped by Mason City police for a traffic violation at 12:33 AM Saturday morning at the 000 block of South Penn Avenue. After an investigation, Cox was arrested for felony third offense operating while intoxicated and taken to the county jail.

One of the arresting MCPD officers performed a breath alcohol test at the county jail at 1:30 AM on a male subject (not necessarily Cox) and the result was 0.233 and 0.232 – nearly triple the legal limit.

Cox was released from jail later Saturday and awaits a court date.

Tony coxaflopping runs his jibs non stop

Tony must have deleted the post about him being a shoplifter. Well he is.

Yes, alcohol is legal, but you don’t have to drink it. It’s the bartenders job to sell/serve drinks, it’s the customers job/choice to know when to stop.

That’s bs Allen. If you are willingly and knowingly serving a customer alcoholic beverages which a reasonable person would conclude is leading to the customers legal intoxication, then probable cause exists for police to hang out in bars and monitor drink service and corresponding times for that service. As others have correctly alluded to, being at .008% anywhere in public, driving or not, is legally publicly intoxicated. Bars are allowed to skate by, while customers pay the price. I say allow drink tickets and times on your debit card statement be admissible in court and force the serving bar to share half the fines and punishment.

What’s really BS, is you thinking the bars are responsible for your own ignorance. Given your logic, is a person supposed to drink to total intoxication every time they go to a bar? Again, using your flawed logic, people would have to fill up their gas tank completely every time they go to a gas station vs. only putting in a couple of bucks worth of gas.

I think you should give up on your looney dreams of becoming an on-line lawyer too. Since your thought process is so out of whack, you will be more suited to becoming a manic depressive who inhabits his mothers basement and pontificates to the rest of the world and shows his ass every waking moment.

Not so fast Buzz. At Boulder Tap House, I witnessed many drinking beer after beer, and mixed drinks and shots in between while watching Iowa win and Michigsn State lose. They weren’t fit to drive, nor were they fit to be in public as per Iowa’s public intoxication law. Yet, I saw no police monitoring the service nor any abridgment to the bartender’s pour. How many drinks do you think it takes before a person nears or tips the legal limit? How many people like to drink 2 beers then leave, especially during a NCAA tournament ? You’re messed up again Buzz. You’re just not thinking correctly.

“Gone for good” Peter. Why should we listen to ANYTHING you say? You have no integrity. You contribute as much to the conversation as someone yelling rhinoceros in a crowded movie theater. You can’t get your own life together nor keep your pants clean.

You said it all. No integrity.

Truth and policy correctness usurp / trump “integrity”. What the hell does that word mean anymore? Nothing. There’s nothing integral about the system and rules we live under.

Ok what would you call someone who says they will do something and then doesn’t do it? Label yourself. I would call that person a lying, self serving, egomaniac who thinks he should be able to rewrite the rules that apply to him. But that can change from moment to moment and situation to situation. Most rules don’t apply to him. Not even the rules he has come up with himself.

That is just Lagios being a Lagios again. His mother must have let him out of the basement after he ran out of meds again.

@we’re waiting…..great comments. Even though Petey won’t listen. He cant. He only thinks about himself and his “rules”. He needs to be institutionalized. But with Branstad closing these types of facilities, he won’t get the help he needs and will continue to be a burden to society and to the good people of NIT, and to the community of Clear Lake.

I’m sure you won’t be welcome at Boulder Tap House again Peter.

Good people don’t harass other people with noise.

Because the simple truth is alcohol is an inebriating CNS depressing agent; it’s a poison. The truth is bars should only be serving people 2 drinks–max, then it’s quitting time; if society was going to quit the double standard bullshit and follow the rules. But America does what it wants, as illogical and unfair as it may be. And people keep savoring the post WW2 greatness of its military industrial victories, to the point of reckless abandon.

Please anyone who sees this guy drunk at the bar or anywhere, and he gets into a car, call the police before he kills an innocent person.

Regardless what you don’t like about him, the broader point is DUI’s can happen to anyone who is out at a bar or restaurant having a good time. Alcohol is EVERYWHERE in this society, and public transpo weak. Bartenders serve you as many drinks as you can order, knowing more than probable you are over the legal limit. They serve people to legal intoxication, send them out the door, and escape consequence. Tony’s always been decent to me anytime I’ve run into him.

There you go again, blaming others. You would would think that after the first one, you would learn your lesson. The fines are hefty, as you would know. Don’t blame the bars or other establishments, the blame is on you the people whom think that it will never catch up with you. Both of you are lucky you never killed someone. There are Taxi’s, phone a friend, ect if you choose to get drunk in a bar. Also, you can walk and take the chance of getting a public intoxication. Don’t defend your poor choices, and that is exactly what it is. Buzz, are Grapefruits on sale yet?

Tony is a grown man and please stop blaming everyone else but him. He could have gotten a ride and not have driven drunk. He is a drunk who drives and will one day kill an innocent person. Please don’t let drunks drive and if they do, call the police to get them stopped. No more excuses please!

He used to be known as “the cornnole of Carolina Ave.”

Couldn’t have happened to a more arrogant, cocky asswipe. Enjoy your prison time there Tony. Never liked you from the first day I met you. Kudos dirtbag, lucky you haven’t killed anybody. Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Lorados is leaving the building!!!
