Child hurt in downtown Mason City store after smashing glass pane (photos)

MASON CITY – Police and paramedics responded to an injured child Friday afternoon in downtown Mason City.

The incident took place a little after 1 PM at Brick Furniture,  107 North Federal Avenue in Mason City.  Mason City police and fire medics had the street partially blocked as they responded to an emergency call about an injured male child.

At the scene, fire medics took a child who suffered cuts to a waiting ambulance and transported him to Mercy Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

NIT was told at the scene that the child was with a parent who was browsing the store.  The child, as described by a man who came out of the store, was running and jumping and then smashed his head through a large plate glass window at the front of the store.

“He was cut and bleeding,” the man said, standing in Federal Avenue, describing the incident.  “They put him in the ambulance.”

Inside the store, there was blood on a front door handle.  Broken glass was on the floor at the main display in the front, north part of the store.  Employees confirmed there was an accident and the child was hurt and taken for treatment.

No names have been released.

NIT will report more on this situation if information becomes available.

Wow, just wow..so much crap on here, how many of you go to church? Wow. This child clearly was not being supervised according to the witness, but again I wasn’t there and it’s not Mt job to make a judgement or opinion on the matter, I don’t go to church because I hate fake people, most of which are the people on here saying nasty things and not acting christian. I hope the child gets better and I hope the store and the parent can work out the details…

Part Parents are no longer allowed to control their children. of the problem is if a parent makes the child behave some hack will call the police and turn them in for child abuse. It is the PC crap gone wild.

Wrong again. Our society supports parental controls and discipline. But a public ass whoopin is just plain unacceptable and against the law, both for kids as well as dogs.

Bull Shit. They will turn you in in a heartbeat for grabbing their arm.

Can you actually site any articles here on NIT or other sources to backup your post?

Can you back up any of your post? No. That’s what I thought.

Looks like you have been busted once again LVS. You advanced your theory, it was challenged and you ran away.

@ Aunt Bea
LVS can never defend his BS, he just goes wacko with more BS.
When you are as intellectually challenged as LVS is, your options are extremely limited.

My motto in a place like this with kids. Look don’t touch. Parents just don’t make kids behave anymore.

I own a small business and people let their children destroy stuff, climb and jump, and look at you like your crazy when you try to protect your business from a lawsuit because of this kind of crap. Also costing the business money because screaming kids are great sales associates.

As a business owner, if kids are destroying stuff, why are you not euthanize get them?

What.

Allen, kids in a business destroying things should be euthanized, and their parents held liable.

@Nonsense-More NONSENSE from NONSENSE.

The store still needs updated glass in case of accidents. They are in code violation with that glass. Bad parenting, but the glass isn’t up to code.

Sure about that Larry?

100%

The parent should have been more aware of what the child was doing. Running and jumping around in a furniture store, a child could get hurt on anything….besides that, they shouldn’t be doing that in the first place. A lot of breakables, lamps, etc. in a store. Parent should have had the child more under control. i agree about making your child behave as previously stated. It is not the stores fault for sure !

Donna, thank you very much for stating the obvious.

Making a child do anything is a joke let alone if u were to discipline a child like a have a feeling everyone that can read this was u run the risk of having child protective services on ur case.

The child was running and jumping. It clearly states this in the article..make your kids behave.

Things like this just piss me off when parents don’t discipline their children, especially when they’re in public. I’ve been in several stores and restaurants where parents let their kids run rampant. The parent should be made to pay for the damages.

My thoughts exactly.

Assumption: Makes an ass out of you.

I’m also assuming that you can read and comprehend. So who’s the ass now !!!!

Let me guess U!!!!
