DES MOINES – U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley is undaunted by criticism lately for refusing to hold hearings for a possible Supreme Court nominee, filing many signatures Friday in a his latest quest for re-election.

Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate reported Saturday that U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley delivered 11 binders of petitions to his office Friday.

“By far the largest amount we’ve received so far this cycle,” Pate said.

Grassley filed for his 7th term in the U.S. Senate. He’s been serving in the U.S. Congress since 1975, as he was previously a Representative.  He’s been in the news lately for obstructing hearings as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee for a possible Supreme Court nominee that has yet to be named by President Obama.

Several Democrats have already made public their intention to knock Grassley off his perch: Rob Hogg, a state senator from Cedar Rapids; former Democratic Lieutenant Governor Patty Judge; Tom Fiegen and Bob Krause.

Republicans control the U.S. Senate, 54-46 over Democrats.

I disagree with him on this SCOTUS issue, but he has been a fine watchdog in Congress over the years and has not been afraid to knock heads with those who are not being accountable.

Katie honey……. do your homework. Grassley, his son and now grandson have collected millions in farm subsidies over the years. And the honorable senator has played a prominent role in the powerful Ag Committee that oversees farmers welfare. A Google search will substantiate my post.

TERM LIMITS AND YOU DON’T WALK AWAY WITH BENEFITS FOR LIFE. THEY WORK LESS DAYS/HOURS AND MAKE MORE THEN THE AVERAGE PERSON.

He should retire. We need people who will do their jobs and Sen Grassley is sure as heck not doing his. If he says he will not hold a vote on a new Supreme Court Justice just because he doesn’t like the president he should be run out of office. Lets hold his pay and benefits until he decides to go to work.

I wonder if Obama has ever done anything because he didn’t like someone? Maybe Grassley could ask the members of the Judiciary Committee to vote “present” on any appointees up for consideration.

Obama is not running for his 7th term as President. What is your point?

Chuck has become Chuckles the Clown

He has been in far to long and needs to bow out. That being said, I would never vote for anyone who was part of the Culver scam.

Retirement is long overdue.

Get off my lawn you meddling kids….

Time to hang it up. Chuck was great in his time, now he’s just a cranky old man.
