IOWA CITY – A man who wasn’t very nice to Donald Trump during an Iowa City campaign stop and hurled tomatoes at him has pleaded guilty and must pay a fine.
Andrew Joseph Alemao, age 28, attended the Donald Trump presidential rally on the night of January 26 on the campus of the University of Iowa. Allegedly, Alemao hurled at least two tomatoes at powerful billionaire and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. His plump red veggies missed the outspoken pol, but the Secret Service demanded that he be arrested anyway. Alemao was taken into custody by University police and charged with disorderly conduct – fighting or violent behavior.
Alemao – who has several drug arrests on his resume – was soon released. He entered a not guilty plea and awaited a jury trial later this month.
However, at a plea bargain hearing Monday, Alemao pleaded guilty. He must pay $147.75 in fines and court costs.
