Man caught with marijuana refuses to show up in court, says it’s a “petty offense”

MASON CITY – A California man earlier caught and arrested with the illegal narcotic marijuana refused to show up in court and says he doesn’t deserve to be in the news.

Back on December 11, 2015, Adam Joseph Kado, age 27 of Fresno, California was allegedly doing up to 15 miles per hour over the speed limit when a Cerro Gordo deputy stopped his vehicle. During the ensuing search and investigation, Mr. Kado and his passenger, Hosie Romell Thurmond IV, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, were both found to be in possession of marijuana and arrested. Kado was also charged with speeding, and Thurmond with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both men posted bond and were released from jail on a promise to appear in court.

However, both men never appeared and are wanted on arrest warrants at this time.

Now, Mr. Kado has reached out to NIT and wants all reporting of his alleged crime erased from NorthIowaToday.com.

“I have to ask you to remove some information posted from your website that is defamation of character, Mr. Kado said to NIT. “A person is innocent until proven guilty, and until there is a conviction there should be no personal information or mug shot picture until someone has had their day in court. I will be contacting the Google webmaster to see this information erased from the web searches.”

NIT checked with Sheriff Kevin Pals as to the status of Mr. Kado’s case. He explained:

“There is an active warrant for Adam Kado… (failure to appear) for arraignment reference possession of controlled substance marijuana 1st offense. Bond is $1,000.00 cash in defendants name only.”

NIT reported to Mr. Kado that he is wanted here in Cerro Gordo county. He replied “I had a couple grams of marijuana for recreational use. I have no past criminal record, and this was my first time ever being arrested. I don’t think that a petty offense like this should garner this much attention on the Internet especially when there has been no verdict. I’ve made a mistake, but deffamation (sic) of character is not upholding integrity.”
