MASON CITY – A North Iowa man who was found guilty of meth possession earlier this month was taken to jail by police after a report of a theft from Mills Fleet Farm.
A theft was reported by loss prevention employees at Mills Fleet Farm, 3200 4th Street SW in Mason City, on Sunday, January 24 at about 11:24 AM. Police arrived and arrested 32-year-old Richard Joseph Helfrich of Coulter, Iowa. He was charged with fifth-degree theft and taken to the county jail. He later posted $300.00 bond and was released.
Helfrich is a convicted felon for drug crimes in Washington county, Iowa. In April of 2015, he was charged in Butler county with possession of methamphetamine. He was found guilty on January 6, 2016 and put on probation.
