MASON CITY – A North Iowa man who was found guilty of meth possession earlier this month was taken to jail by police after a report of a theft from Mills Fleet Farm.
A theft was reported by loss prevention employees at Mills Fleet Farm, 3200 4th Street SW in Mason City, on Sunday, January 24 at about 11:24 AM. Police arrived and arrested 32-year-old Richard Joseph Helfrich of Coulter, Iowa. He was charged with fifth-degree theft and taken to the county jail. He later posted $300.00 bond and was released.
Helfrich is a convicted felon for drug crimes in Washington county, Iowa. In April of 2015, he was charged in Butler county with possession of methamphetamine. He was found guilty on January 6, 2016 and put on probation.

How about the fact that this is the #2 arrest and below it is 3rd offense owi inh extinguish a women with heroin. And right below crimes against humanity. Get real this ridiculous. You should be sued!!!
I find that people like you and who ever edits these news posts are what destroys people. You don’t even know what happened. They don’t put the parts in there like the felony conviction was almost 15 years ago. Or the fact that it was a 4 dollars pack or plumbing seals that was allegedly stolen and hundreds of dollars on this person. How about how it affects the family. He has pay his debt but now because of these postings his family has to pay for it too. Mind your business and quit exploiting negativity and focus and spend your time writing about something positive.
If everyone stole $4 from the mills fleet farm family, there would be no fleet farm. Stop thinking your entitled to others people’s stuff. I bet you think are so entitled to hurt anyone and everyone you see. Did you walk into the store with a pocket full of cash thinking you were going to steal, or were you feeding your family with this much needed “only” $4 item? There is no justification in stealing what isn’t yours.

I find a lot of these druggies like to live in small towns like Coulter because there is no law enforcement there. This does more to destroy the small towns that are trying to survive. It is a shame.
