MASON CITY – Five home-owning families with low to moderate income in a certain Mason City neighborhood may get help in upgrading theirs homes under a program city hall is offering.
The City of Mason City is accepting applications for the Holvik/Parker’s 4th Neighborhood Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Program funded in part by a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) through the Iowa Economic Development Authority. The neighborhood sits west of the Union Pacific railroad and North Jackson Avenue, between 8th and 11th Street, mostly.
The program goal is to assist 5 low-moderate income homeowners in bringing their properties into compliance with Mason City’s building and housing codes as well as HUD’s Housing Quality Standards. Work completed under the Program may include, but not limited to, general, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical. Homeowners must live within the target area (shown on the attached map).
Eligible homeowners are those whose incomes are at or below the median income levels for Cerro Gordo County:
