Former North Iowa teacher gets over a decade in federal prison in child porn case

CEDAR RAPIDS – A Riceville man and former North Iowa pre-kindergarten teacher who possessed child pornography on his computer has been sent to federal prison for over a decade.

Adam Haacke, age 27, from Riceville, Iowa, was charged in August of 2015  with one count of receipt of child pornography and two counts of possession of child pornography.

After the charges were publicized, Haacke tweeted “Before you judge, know the whole story. God is our only judge and he forgives us all.”  He continued to tweet about his love of pro wrestling.

In October of 2015, Haacke was convicted of one count of possession of child pornography. At the plea hearing, Haacke admitted that, between 2014 and 2015, he knowingly possessed child pornography on a hard drive.

The Associated Press reports now that Haacke will spend 11 years and 3 months in federal prison after he was sentenced last week by judge Linda Reade in a Cedar Rapids federal courtroom.

Haacke was a former music teacher in Riceville, who was known as “knightw11” on Twitter and Youtube, where he posted countless tweets and home-made videos to his accounts.  “I compose wrestling themes in Mario Paint Composer and play them on piano by ear,” he said in his Twitter account. “I also make piano sheet music for themes.”  He taught numerous grade levels, including pre-K, 1st grade and 4th grade, and student taught in the North Butler school district.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark Tremmel and was investigated by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office, and the Mason City Police Department.
