MASON CITY – A Mason City apartment house was evacuated Saturday afternoon.
Residents at 220 3rd Street NW left the apartment house there and the Mason City fire department was beckoned at just before 4 PM. Smoke was reported to be rolling out of the second floor windows of apartment #8.
At the scene, a number of folks were outside, some in shorts and shirts and firefighters, ambulance and police blocked off 3rd Street NW to assess the situation. Firefighters were inside the structure, looking fro flames and a source of smoke.
There was no report of injuries, and no report yet of any damages to the structure. The apartment house is owned by Fred and Darlene Gildner. NIT will update when more information is made available.
