MASON CITY – Two persons listed as associated with a Mason City rental house were arrested recently, one for dealing crack cocaine.
A Chicago man was apprehended at a Mason City rental house recently, charged with dealing crack cocaine, and another woman associated with the same house was caught drunk driving days later.
A law enforcement investigation was conducted at 246 8th Street SE – owned by Cynthia and James Pike – on or around January 13, 2016. Sheriff Kevin Pals tells NIT this investigation was not connected to the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force. As a part of that investigation, Mark D. Hurn, age 43 of Chicago, was arrested on a charge of possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine. He has a court date set for January 22 and is being held on a U.S. Marshall’s detainer on no bond.
Three days later, on January 16 just before midnight, law enforcement arrested Kiera Lashay Bernice Shackleford, age 25, for drunk driving at 5th Street SE and South Massachusetts Avenue. She is listed as living at the rental house in Mason City that was part of the crack cocaine arrest of Hurn. She was soon released from jail.
Court records show Clear Lake police sought and obtained a search warrant for Shackleford on January 11, 2016, for an unknown address. It appears that property was seized as part of that search.
