Branstad wants Cruz defeated in Iowa

DES MOINES – Governor Terry Branstad wants Ted Cruz beaten in Iowa.

At a press conference Tuesday connected to Iowa renewable fuels – a huge part of the Iowa economy – Branstad said if Texas Senator Ted Cruz wins the presidential election, his presidency would be “very damaging” to Iowa. Cruz wants to eliminate the Renewable Fuel Standard, which props up the ethanol industry in the state and keeps farmers in business. There are ethanol plants all over the state, processes that fuel that uses Iowa agricultural products.

Today, Branstad told an audience that “Ted Cruz is ahead right now. What we’re trying to do is educate the people in the state of Iowa. He is the biggest opponent of renewable fuels. He actually introduced a bill in 2013 to immediately eliminate the Renewable Fuel Standard. He is heavily financed by big oil. So we think once Iowans realize that fact, they might find other things attractive but he could be very damaging to our state.”

Just today, Iowa lawmakers urged the EPA to set strong renewable fuels levels.

In a letter, they urged the EPA to use this year as an opportunity to commit to getting the Renewable Fuel Standard back on track, and pointed to Iowa’s role as the premier renewable fuels producer in the nation. The letter also highlighted the critical need for the RFS, which works to provide consumers with fuel choices, increase energy independence, boost rural economies, and protect the environment.

“Our agricultural base in Iowa, serving as feedstock for ethanol and biodiesel production, has near record supplies of excess corn,” the members of Congress wrote. “In addition, low oil prices spurred surging fuel demand and large retailers of gasoline are embracing higher ethanol blends.”

According to Real Clear Politics, Donald Trump leads most polls, but by a narrow margin.  Cruz has a lead in a couple of polls.

@ Frequency Modulation

You talk silly. The Democrats are the brown shirts you talk about. Bernie Sanders and his anti American platform is just another Hitler in disguise. You rummy’s that want to bleed the rich of their money to line your own pockets just don’t get it.

I never had a poor person every offer me a job!

FYI: While the Republicans always supported the so called “Free Trade” agreements NAFTA and GATT, it wasn’t until Bill Clinton became President that he and the Democrats changed their vote and passed NAFTA and GATT that has drained this country of our jobs.

Cruz or Trump offer the best chance of putting this country back on the right course to bring our jobs back and rebuild our economy.

Bernie Sanders on the other hand will bring us a broken economy, food lines, and Hitler’s jack-booted thugs.

Bernie is just a bad idea!!

@watchdog-Frequency Modulation is Peter Lagios posting under a different name again. That is why he talks crazy.

I’m ok with giving it to Trump IF he stops the exportation of wealth and jobs, and puts in a 15% flat tax and kills all the loopholes. I don’t know where he stands on marijuana legalization. I am registered as Republican and will caucus for Trump.

Branstads’s comments only go to show you how much of a RHINO he is. That is a Republican IN Name Only” for bloggers like Frequency Modulation and you other left wing loons.

Branstad has always been a liberal Democrat and that is why he continues to get re-elected in Iowa. Iowa has turned into a pretty liberal state and most Republicans are to stupid to get that.

Branstad’s opposition to Cruz only goes to raise Cruz’s standing as an non establishment candidate willing to take on Wall Street, K Street, and the status quo to bring jobs back to America.

He is a RHINO that is only loyal to the agriculture bunch and to hell with everyone else. It is all about the farmers with him and always has been.

LVS you are so right on. I do not support ethanol for many reasons. Unfortunately, the farm lobby has a bigger voice that the regular folks in Iowa.

@watchdog-I do not support it either. They market it as anti-pollution, but if the truth is known it creates more pollution than it cures. It is a water hog and creates dust. It takes food from the hungry and burns it. It is terrible on existing engines (especially lawn mowers, motorcycles, snowmobiles, chain saws and the like. It is also hell on most existing car motors that are not designed to run it. The only people who gain from it are the farmers and we have to subsidize them.

Note the love fest, bromance between LVS and The Dog.

Should he continue this childish lets fight back. Every time we see one of his outlandish posts lets get together and vaporize him with the report comment button. Consider this a warning LVS to be a good boy and take it like a man.

Yea Ted Cruz for not supporting corporate welfare! You got my vote!

Ted Cruz is bankrolled by big oil.

In addition Cruz is a Canadian who speaks fluent Spanish. Que Pasa……Eh??

Cruzin just got a Bruzin from Emperor Bumstad.

Amazing the number of left wing democrats that really believe that Bernie Sanders would be good for them. The guy wants to kill the goose that lays the golden egg. If you think jobs and decent wages are bad now, elect this idiot Sanders and watch the mess we have now get really bad.

How in the world did you people come to believe that jealousy and anger are going to solve America’s problems?

How in the world did people come to believe that exporting wealth and jobs out of the homeland was good for America? How did people come to believe that relinquishing power to about 5% of the people to make all political and economic decisions was good for America? A steady dripping poison has been inserted into the bodies of Americans and Sanders represents pulling the line out of the vein so Americans can sober up.

What you’re too scared to face is this “Golden Goose” that you speak of exists in China, not America. Traiter American executives decided to build up foreign people overseas and leave yourselves behind as consumers. They are sapping the wealth out of America and concentrating it in offshore bank accounts and in foreign countries. You’re too dim and drunk with the diversion (American Military Operations) to realize what’s happened. I don’t agree with the rate which Bernie wants to tax the rich, but I do believe in a universal flat tax with all loopholes closed.

Trump vs Sanders. Sanders on top.

Trump represents a resurgence of what were known as the “brown shirts”. They were the SSA blue collar strong man thugs who went around and bullied and beat up anyone who HItler and his party opposed. They helped pave the way to HItler’s ascension to the throne. The chants of “USA, USA, USA” are similar to what was chanted back in 1930’s Germany. History is in fact repeating itself.

Wind and solar are our future. We are running out of dinogoo.

I support Cruz on this one. No subsidies for any energy companies including Oil, Wind or Biofuels, let the market decide, not because of Government subsidies. Let the market decide, no favorites. The fuel standard is still in place, (Government rule,) MTBE has been ruled out so Ethanal is still the best choice. Subsidies are our tax dollars, the wind energy would never survive if we didn’t prop it up with our tax dollars.

Yeah but problem is BIG OIL has received so much help and support for last hundred years that something has to be done to assist the relatively “new” technologies of sun and wind. Plus, like GM suppressing the electric car, BIG OIL worked hard against wind and solar until Dubya’s corrupt Middle East exploits caused the good people of Iowa to counterattack with wind.

Maybe Bumstad feels the bern.

The Canadian anchor baby gets BTFO by Branstad.
