FORT DODGE, IOWA – A Fort Dodge man threw a simulated explosive device through a woman’s window and now faces serious charges.
On Sunday, January 17, 2016 at approximately 6:19 PM, the Webster County Communications Center received a report of an object with a lighter attached to it being thrown through a window at 368 Ave M West. Officer’s with the Fort Dodge Police Department responded to the area.
According to the victim she was inside her residence when the suspect threw the item through her kitchen window. The Officer discovered the item was a simulated explosive device. Officer’s quickly located the suspect and he was taken into custody.
In the course of the Officer’s investigation they learned that the suspect had previously been in possession of a explosive device.
Officer’s obtained a search warrant and executed the search warrant at 286 Ave M West with the assistance of the State Fire Marshal’s Office. During the execution of the warrant, officers located an additional suspicious device.
Tyrone Fudge was arrested and charged with Harassment 1st Degree (Aggravated Misdemeanor) and Simulated Explosive Violation. Iowa code states that a person who, with the intent to intimidate, annoy, or alarm another person, places a simulated explosive or simulated incendiary device in or near an occupied structure as defined in section 702.12, is guilty of a serious misdemeanor.
Fudge may incur additional charges pending an analysis of the device located at 286 Ave M West by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation’s Criminalistics Laboratory.
