Mason City woman flees Shopko after alleged theft

MASON CITY – A Mason City woman remains jailed after police say she attempted to steal from Shopko and tried to flee the scene in a car parked in the fire lane.

Mason City police tell NIT that at 5:02 PM on January 10, Shopko employees reported a female had fled from employees after allegedly stealing some items there. Nicole Lynn Cooper, age 39, allegedly stole at least $10 or more of merchandise. She left the area in a vehicle that was parked outside in the fire lane.

Officers applied for an arrest warrant for Cooper charging her with 3rd Degree Theft, enhanced due to previous theft convictions.

Three days later, officers arrested Cooper on the warrant for third-degree theft on January 13, 2016 at 10 PM at her home. She remains jailed on $2,000 bond as she awaits a court date.
