Charles City woman arrested for assault, pleads guilty to child endangerment

CHARLES CITY – A Charles City woman was arrested for assault the day after she was sentenced for child endangerment.

On December 16, 2015 at about 4:16 PM, Charles City police were called to the 600 block of 10th Avenue for a violent disturbance. Upon arrival, officers separated the involved parties. After an investigation, 26-year-old Brienna Kerlin was arrested for assault causing bodily injury. Kerlin was jailed and then released the next day as a no-contact order was imposed by a judge. She awaits a court arraignment on January 19.

Kerlin recently faced charges of fourth degree theft and child endangerment in Floyd county, as well. Those charges were brought back in November of 2014. On December 15, Kerlin was given a deferred judgement on the charge of fourth degree theft which included $680.00 in fines and court fees as well as a year of probation. She also pled guilty to child endangerment. She was given a suspended fine and 2 days in jail (365 days with 363 suspended) as well as a year of probation.
