Convicted drug dealer caught drunk driving for second time

MASON CITY – A Mason City man with a revoked driver’s license was caught drunk driving for a second time.

A Cerro Gordo county deputy stopped a vehicle just before 4:00 AM Friday morning at the 1000 block of North Jefferson Avenue. Behind the wheel was convicted marijuana dealer Tommy Laster, Jr., who was already caught once this year driving drunk.

After an investigation at the scene, Laster was found to be intoxicated by the responding law enforcement officers and to have a revoked license due to his previous drunk driving conviction. He then proceeded to interfere with their duties sometime during the course of his arrest.

Laster was brought to jail on charges of second offense operating while intoxicated, driving with a revoked license and interference with official acts. He remains held in the county jail on bond.

Laster was arrested this past January for drunk in Mason City. He was jailed, had his driver’s license revoked and ordered to pay $2,246.88 in fines and court fees. Records show he has made no payments on that balance.
