Steve King whines: “Bernie Sanders attacked me”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Steve King said this week that socialist presidential candidate Bernie Sanders attacked him after questions were raised about a Muslim Congressman’s loyalty to the Constitution versus Sharia Law.

Rep. Steve King, who represents Mason City, Ames, and other cities in Iowa’s Fourth District, participated in a recent interview with Chris Hayes on MSNBC. “I asked the tough question of whether Congressman Keith Ellison (Democrat representing District 5, Minnesota), a Muslim, would put the Constitution above Sharia Law, the rules of the Muslim faith.

“I asked, “Which is superior? The Constitution or Sharia law? And in Sharia law, by their teachings, is superior to everything else. It replaces everything else. It replaces the Constitution itself. So you can’t be assimilated into the American civilization and accept Sharia law as being superior to our Constitution. It’s antithetical to Americanism.”

According to King, his questions “led to an attack on Twitter by socialist Bernie Sanders, who attempted to ridicule my opposition to Sharia Law.”

Sanders, on December 11, Tweeted “Steve King’s attack on Keith Ellison is the kind of bigotry we must reject. Keith’s life of service represents the best of American values.”

King responded to Sanders, saying “No, Bernie Sanders, the Constitution is the supreme law of the land. Shari Law is incompatible with Americanism.”

At the same time, a civic action organization called “NIAC Action” which claims to be “committed to advancing peace and championing the priorities of the Iranian-American community” and “works to maximize the political influence of Iranian Americans” also blasted King for his remarks.

“NIAC Action condemns remarks by Rep. Steve King in which he suggested that Rep. Keith Ellison’s commitment to upholding the Constitution should be in question because they are Muslim. The real question is how anyone who openly calls for religious discrimination against fellow Americans can be trusted to uphold the Constitution, which fundamentally protects religious freedom. Reps. Ellison and Carson, like other Muslim Americans, have made extraordinary contributions to this country, including through their service in Congress. Attacks on their faith are an insult to the core, founding principles of America that make our country great.”

I have written to him in the past and two months later I get a form letter from one of his assistants….nothing else

This guy’s a total idiot! But I’m not sure who is the bigger idiot, him or you guys who keep electing him!

This is too funny king is very well known as a fruit case with many of his remarks and he wants to complain when it happens to him. What a hypocrite.

It is ironic that this man who is a fundamentalist Christian would attack another man’s religion. I believe that I, as a Christian, should put God’s law above any law made by man.

Muslim is not a religion, it is a cult and therefore does not come under freedom of religion. If you were to look at the Koran and it’s rules you would find it is a way of government that uses fanatical religion to achieve it’s goals. We have every right to ask those question’s. Now, that being said I very seldom agree with King, he is way to far to the right for me and is somewhat intolerant of anything he doesn’t subscribe to.

if what you say is true, then 1/4 of this planet’s population has been duped into believing they are followers of Mohammed when, in reality, they are in a cult. This will certainly throw this world into turmoil

@Bodacious-Look around. The world is in a turmoil.

Sarcasm LVS, sarcasm.

@Bodacious-Truth Bo Truth. It is Obama’s world and it is in turmoil.

It’s been in turmoil since the 90s. Can’t blame the President for that.

“Muslim is not a religion”

Well you got that part right anyway.
Muslim is a person who believes in Islam.
We’ll let that one slide, just because it’s an LVSism (term for clueless).

But then you turn right around and say “that uses fanatical religion”
So what is it?

Think LVS, think before you engage your mouth.

@Frank-And you are now a member of the Dumb Azz Club. If you ever had a original thought it would be a miracle, dumb azz.

“Think LVS” – do you realize the impossibility of that request?

I think LVS is the 2nd Coming of Peter Laggios….. A LOT of similarities.

@Polio=I told Matt this post would get the wags going and look who popped up. Another Dumb Azz without a original thought. If you voted for Obama twice (and you did) and you paln on voting for Hitlary the Lying Hag, slap yourself in the face three time for gross stupidity.

Are you always this grumpy so early in the morning?

Only when I am attacked for voicing my opinion by cowardly haters who are to stupid to know the truth.

LVS suffers from delusions of adequcy.

LVS is a prime example of the Dunning-Kruger effect.
“a cognitive bias in which relatively unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly assessing their ability to be much higher than it really is.
This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their own ineptitude ”

You will know this is a fact in one of two ways:
1. This comment gets deleted
2. LVS will make his usual intellectually-challenged response.

Clear Lake has Peter
Mason city has Lvs
’nuff said

The parallel between LVS and Peter is absolutely amazing, thanks for the observation.

@Matt-There you go. That will get the wags going agin. More hits on the page.

What “extraordinary contributions” have been made by Mr. Ellison?

What a Jerk. He is a radical, extremist. So far right that he is gonna slip off his flat earth.
