DES MOINES, IOWA – In the latest batch of emails made public by the State Department on Monday, it was revealed that Secretary Clinton in 2012 characterized caucuses as “creatures of the parties’ extremes.”

Today, Iowans fired back:

State Representative Bruce Hunter:
“Iowa’s caucusgoers keep themselves highly informed and examine presidential candidates in depth – seeing through false promises and poll-driven positions as a service to our country. Secretary Clinton’s continued disdain for the caucuses shows just how out of touch she is with everyday Iowans. The only thing Iowans dislike more than someone who says one thing in public and another in private, is a politician who refuses to learn from mistakes of the past.”

Attorney George Appleby:
“As a lifelong participant in the Iowa caucuses, Hillary Clinton’s repeated slams against a caucus system that has served our democracy and our Party well are offensive. Iowa’s caucusgoers time and again have chosen the voice of a new generation to move our country and our party forward. Sour grapes after a crushing loss are no reason to malign a democratic institution that the good people of Iowa approach as an honor and responsibility.”

O’Malley for President Iowa State Director Jake Oeth:
“From his time as an organizer in the 1984 caucuses, to his focus on Q&A at events around the state as a candidate, Martin O’Malley has consistently shown his respect for the people of Iowa and our caucus process. At a time where big-money can dominate elections, every individual matters in the Iowa caucuses. So while Secretary Clinton bashes the good people who join their neighbors to show their presidential preference on caucus night, Governor O’Malley will continue to thank Iowans for the role they play in our democratic process.”
