Blake Farenthold, US Representative (R-TX) – was reported to have paid $84,000 of taxpayer money, via the House of Representatives Office of Compliance,
to settle a sexual harassment complaint from a former staffer. The identity of Farenthold with respect to taxpayer involvement was made public in 2017.
This was the first documented case of taxpayer funds being used to settle sexual harassment complaints against a member of Congress.
Dennis Hastert, former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives (R-IL) – pled guilty to structuring bank withdrawals in order to conceal
deliberately-unspecified misconduct by Hastert against an unnamed individual years earlier.
At a sentencing hearing in October 2015, Hastert admitted that he had sexually abused boys while he worked as a high school wrestling coach decades earlier.

Observer, I am finding myself liking what you write on NIT more and more. The original post is a great example of the narrow-mindedness of that small bunch of yahoos who have overtaken NIT. They want to go back to the 50s and 60s and relive their childhood because they don’t like the world today. Their prejudices are out there for everyone to see and they don’t care. I remember making a statement I made on NIT a number of years ago stating the the vast majority of black Americans were good, hard-working, honest people. I was told I was wrong – repeatedly. I shake my head that there are people like this walking among us.

What do you expect when the state allows kids to transfer out of the district just so you can play for a certain coach. When open enrollment was first established, you had to have a very good reason to open enroll into another district and had to be approved by both districts. So you have kids who live in Mason City city limits who transfer to Clear Lake, Central Springs, West Fork just because they don’t like a certain coach(es) and the neighboring district coach makes promises of getting you noticed. It has become a free for all in regards to open enrollment, almost like recruiting. We need to go back to the real reason it was implemented in the first place. What a sad world when sports supersedes education.
