“We are all tired of anonymous trolls ruining the day.” That is not completely true. Trolls, anonymous or not, are not ruining everyone’s day. MOST of us have developed coping skills to discriminate who’s opinion matters and who’s does not to us. There is also a thick skin that is developed by working for what you have over the years that provides a barrier against people who just try to provoke a response out of people. Whining about how everyone is picking on you in a place you have condemned over and over and vowed to leave and never return is pretty much akin to a child complaining whining about living at home and vowing to leave but silently “suffering” the free room and board. Here is a great idea for the city. Put in alternate side parking over the holiday weekend and then do not send out the plows when the slush is soft and removable. Leave it on the streets until it freezes solid and turns the side streets into a sheet of ice. Of course you can continue to write tickets because you alternate parking is still active. I was shy, uncoordinated and terrible at sports, all of which put me on the outs with other boys my age. But I was good at drawing and making up stories for my own entertainment, and I spent more and more time in my own head, being a space adventurer or monster wrangler or whatever character I could think up. These would ultimately prove to be useful skills, but for now they only served to further alienate me from other kids. On top of it all, I still struggled with bladder control—likely due to my heaping pile of insecurities, to which this problem only added more—well into my elementary school years.

Under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, providers of an “interactive computer service” who publish information provided by others are immune from liability for words spoken by others using the service.
The reason for this is twofold.
First, it obviously wouldn’t be fair to hold a website accountable for a statement made by a third party through their service. Simply displaying the statement shouldn’t qualify the website as a speaker of those words such that liability would attach.
The second reason is much more important, and that’s free speech. If social media websites could be liable for words spoken by third parties, it would create a “chilling effect” on speech because they would try to proactively censor statements before they are posted. It would then become a difference of opinion as to what should and shouldn’t be allowed and the freedom to speak would be at the site’s mercy.

Still having delusions of success without commitment I see. Graduation is a goal you will never quite achieve. You will deem it beneath you or a poor investment to justify your decision to abandon the whole endeavor.

Hey Buzz, I super soaked the car seat driving back from Cedar Rapids this evening. I tried but couldn’t hold it. Will I ever get a date this way? I may need to use drywall sponges or keep them nearby. I figure if a girl can make it thru a first date with me, she’ll probably be willing to marry me. Thoughts? Ps. Appreciate the question. I’d love to see an arena in Mason City. However, I’m not sold on Mr. Kohan. He has not made an appearance here and stands to greatly benefit from this project. He has not made a promise to upkeep the mall and pursue tenants. He has said zero to the people of Mason City, and we are handing him $18 million. You know, recently, I did business at a bank. In order to do this business, I had to go into the bank and acquaint myself there. I had to produce tax returns, plans, data, revenue projections, etc. Once the bank was comfortable, a deal was made. This case is similar, in my opinion. But in this case, everything is off. We the people are the bank, and Mr. Kohan simply wants to do a deal based on… what? Our mayor’s desperation? The laziness of the city council? His mere ownership of the mall? Where is his sales pitch? Where are his promises? Where is his pledge to something special in our downtown? City hall, apparently, expects me to buy into a partnership where the biggest stakeholder (citizens) is kept out of the loop (again). I’m not interested in doing business with a three-named phantom. There is way too little transparency going on – as always – from city hall. Until they can do business in a logical, forthright, transparent way, I cannot back any arena project.
