Now I’m not Nostradamus, but I’m going to predict a surge of covid in Iowa in the coming weeks. I base that prediction on all the super bowl parties that are going to take place in homes and bars across the state. Especially the bars and other drinking and eating establishments that will open their doors with no restrictions.

Trump’s lie that the election was stolen has cost$519 million(and counting) as taxpayers fund enhanced security, legal fees, property repairs and more

We can’t even count in cost the damage tRump & lackey DeJoy did to USPS. It’s endless.

Was there election fraud? Smartmatic filed a 2.7 BILLION dollar lawsuit against Fox News -Sidney Powell -Gulliano -and various others claiming they made statements about their dominion equipment and owners saying the machines were setup to be rigged and were so. Well when the case goes to court I guess we will finally have an outcome or investigation to see what really happened because our justice departments have failed to look into it. Boy those perpetrators are going to have to cough up when its over. Heard Fox News has already most likely booted Lou Dobbs for vicious lies against smartmatic. Well what goes around comes around.

Wouldn’t it be great if at least 17 repubilcon senators would actually grow a spine and get rid of the fat ass orange guy, once a for all? All they have to do is remember that they swore an oath to support our country and not a despot.

Wouldn’t it be great, if any of the Communists, I mean those people that call themselves Democrats, would uphold their oaths that they swore.

The House and the Senate Have just about the same oath, only difference I found is in the House version, you state your name.

      Here is the House version:

I, (their name), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

    Name the Loser!

Who is the loser in Mason City that ran for city council and lost not once but twice?
First he lost to the biggest idiot to ever sit on the council, Janet Solberg.
Then he lost again to a geriatric retread, John Jaszewski.
So what does the loser do then, well he begs for and mooches $30,000 from Mason City taxpayers.

All the while, after he had his sorry ass fired from the Globe Gazette, he runs a one horse dog & pony shit show of a website.

Huh, sounds an awful lot like OPD OFFICER Mike Niemeyer’s wife… If it IS his wife, she’s either Houdini-capable to hide it from her husband or he knew about it and kept quiet. If it’s the latter then Osage needs a full evaluation on ALL of it’s PD & Sheriff’s Dept employees.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do. Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power.

Anyone with at least 3 braincells, knows what they are claiming, is impossible. It would have taken hundreds, if not thousands, of people to shift millions of votes across many states, to do this. They would all then have to keep silent through 60 court cases before 90 or more judges. As Mark Twain said, “three people can keep a secret, only if two are dead.

Then he ignored the pandemic until it was out of control and now it’s killed more than 400,000 people. All of our current problems are Trump’s fault, period.

Trump’s presidency was a job apocalypse not just for fossil fuels, but for renewables.

477,862 clean energy jobs lost as of September, a 13.8 percent drop in employment.

(And renewables still employ far more people than fossil fuels)

As a staunch Democrat I can say I found a flaw in Biden’s plans. I do not agree with automatically sending money per child to families every month. A big no. I would agree with sending one payment a year (before school starts) to help with school clothes and supplies, but not a set amount every damned month. That gives each family FAR more than FIP gives out- which comes with big demands by the state in order to get FIP. I think this wild idea was pushed by the far-left rather than mulled over wisely.

C’mon, I’m a parent of two boys. The cost to care for them wasn’t a huge jump over the cost to care for myself until it came to school needs.

I paid daycare. Of course back then it wasn’t anywhere near as high. At the time the state of Iowa had a program that helped or did pay childcare if you qualified. I’m sure program that still exists. So it all boils down to whether you can afford to pay it on your own or get state help- there aren’t a lot of excuses to use to use child care as a bash against me. At least I make a point to tell young mothers about the program when they talk about childcare.

Good grief, you are really trying everything to make him look bad. You are a typical trumpublican. You lie, slant things to make you look good, omit important criteria, demean your opponents and do really stupid things. Read what is in Biden’s oval office.
“Busts of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy flank a fireplace in the office. Biden often refers to the impact both men made on the country as part of the civil rights movement.
Biden is also nodding to segments of the Democratic Party’s base via historical references. Behind the Resolute Desk is a bust of Cesar Chavez. The office also includes busts of Rosa Parks and Eleanor Roosevelt and a sculpture depicting a horse and rider by Allan Houser of the Chiricahua Apache tribe that once belonged to the late Sen. Daniel K. Inouye (D-Hawaii) — the first Japanese American elected to both houses of Congress.”

“the left” is actually “private business” … can you walk into Apleebee’s and before you order the meat platter with onion rings walk around yelling obscenities, threats, nonsense, basically bother and harass the other patrons? No? Right, because they would boot your 325lb. butt out into the parking lot and the cops would help them.

Please keep your comments on-topic and interesting. Do not attack others.

If what you say is true, why do you delete some “obscenities, threats, nonsense, basically bother and harass the other patrons” and not all “obscenities, threats, nonsense, basically bother and harass the other patrons. Is it because some of the “obscenities, threats, nonsense, basically bother and harass the other patrons” fits your ideology????

In my private business, I occasionally have to put on the bouncer hat and kick out the goofy troublemakers. And they keep sneaking back in with a new disguise…

The scientific truth is: Every abortion kills a little boy or a little girl. Biden refuses to protect these little boys and girls, just as he refuses to recognize men are men and women are women. He effectively rejects the first two facts of life.

Would be great if the parents themselves were not corrupted in their upbringing and thought that abortion is the answer to their pregnancy, just like it would be great if you were not corrupted in your upbringing and think that government action/inaction is the answer to all of society’s ills, such as abortion. Abortions will happen whether the government tries to outlaw them or not.

“Party in power is demonizing half of the country” I’d go as far as to say they are threatening half of the country. While I have no time for racism, or white supremacists, we have to remember the only factor needed for them to label you in this manner is to not agree with the far left agenda. So who are they coming for?

If you’re worried about being labeled then you obviously are a racist. I’d suggest you work on your own mindset, weakling, before you assume people are stupid enough to believe the crap you sling.

    City Hall January 14, 2021
    Mason City, Iowa 6:00 P.M.

    MINUTES
    COUNCIL WORKSESSION

The City Council of the City of Mason City, Iowa, met in Worksession pursuant to law and rules of said Council, in the 2nd Floor Conference Room of City Hall at 6:00 P.M., on January 21, 2021. The meeting was held via Zoom and called to order by the Mayor and on roll being called, there were present, Mayor in the Chair Schickel and the following Council Members: Lee, Jaszewski, Thoma, Masson, Adams, Symonds. Absent: None.

    Administrator Burnett provided an introduction.

Capital improvements by fund yearly comparison: Jacobson highlighted the Capital Improvements Fund by yearly comparison. The funds included Local Option Sales Tax, GO Bonds, Road Use Tax, Storm Sewer, Water, Sewer, Sanitation and Ambulance.

General Projects Fund: Jacobson provided a review of the General Projects Fund, advising it was pretty straight forward, noting two projects were done each year (computer replacement and miscellaneous equipment replacement) and one was identified through the goal setting (Housing Market Study). He mentioned the City was also leasing vehicles so that money needed to be allocated and the carpeting at the Museum was moved into the General Projects fund.

Discussion followed regarding Museum carpeting, Housing Study, Ambulance purchase, etc.

Sanitation Fund: Jacobson stated staff made a decision to move a replacement vehicle from 2023 to 2022. He also stated there needed to be a monthly increase of $0.35 over a five year period to get the fund where it needed to be.

Burnett stressed the $12.00 rate was a bargain when looking at other communities, pointing out it was very competitive.

    Discussion followed regarding leased vehicles.

Water Fund: Jacobson discussed various projects proposed in the fund and referenced the Water Main Replacement Program, advising the idea was to start looking at ways to maintain the water mains. He also pointed out the City would be retiring the debt on the Water Treatment Plant by fiscal year 2023. The rate increase was projected at 1.00% and that would help with Operating. Jacobson also commented on bonding and advised there was revenue debt, but all revenues from that Fund paid the debt.

Sewer Fund: Jacobson reviewed the projects included in the fund and explained how staff was trying to methodically build (increase) rates so the impact to the citizens wouldn’t be as large when it came time to start the Nutrient Reduction project, noting staff was maintaining some reserves for that and approximately $700,000 was set aside to help offset some of that in the future.

    Discussion followed regarding collection maintenance.

Burnett explained staff was working really hard to keep that rate low while still trying to balance out getting some projects done.

Local Option Sales and Service Tax: Jacobson stated Local Option was coming in solid from what was collected last year, adding there was a dip, but now it was solid. He reviewed other projects and also noted Engineering had the River Walk Project and within that was carry over and grant money to help pay for that $950,000 project. He commented the sunset was 2023 and stressed the importance of moving forward and getting information out to the public in 2022.

Mayor Schickel asked if $950,000 was the total for the Riverwalk with Burnett stating it was not and provided information regarding the various funding sources stating total was $1.25 million

Discussion followed regarding the High Line Trail and moving the Pavement Marking Project.

Road Use Tax Fund: Jacobson highlighted the projects and explained staff was trying to maintain the bonding so as not to raise rates or make the debt too high, pointing out vehicle replacement was reduced by $50,000 and noted there was $59,000 in LOST that was not allocated and would transfer into Road Use. In addition, he commented on bonding, advising right now the Council was looking at $1,650,000 and emphasized the importance of making sure the items included in the bonding were indeed an asset.

G.O. Bonds: Jacobson reviewed the 5 year Capital Improvement Projects, advising the largest project was the RCR skywalk. He also stated the debt issued in FY 21 calculated into a $.08 decrease in the Debt Service Levy.

Discussion followed regarding the $75,000 for masonry restoration at City Hall and patrol videos.

Outside Funding Sources: Jacobson stated the items in blue were TIF funded and a few projects had grant money as the primary funding source, but stressed if the revenues did not come in, the projects would not happen. He pointed out there were several large projects at the Airport, but the CARES Act funding would virtually pay for all those projects. In addition he mentioned there would be a rate increase in Internal Services which was something that hadn’t happened for several years.

Discussion followed regarding the Airport lagoon and minor terminal changes.

Conclusion: Jacobson stated there were $42 million in project and he thought it was a good plan. The following increases would apply for Enterprise Funds:

    Water $0.29
    Sewer $0.47
    Sanitation $0.35
    Storm Sewer –
Projected monthly increase for average user (500 CF) $1.11
    Yearly increase $13.32

Burnett stated what staff had presented allowed the City to achieve what it needed to without postponing what needed to be done and stressed it was a low, responsible proposal.

Discussion followed regarding keeping rates at a steady increase for Nutrient Reduction Project and maintenance and keeping the impact low due to COVID.

The Mayor adjourned the meeting at 7:43 P.M.

There wouldn’t be a vaccine for a couple years yet. The government red tape that Trump cut through with “Warp Speed” is why it is here. Besides Joe would be to busy covering for his Chinese masters and bending over for his Russian ones.
