MCHS Football is the worst in the large school category: until MCHS invests in a named coach and the community backs this effort, the team will continue to fall, which can’t be much lower. When the likes of Clear Lake/Charles City and Algona can beat the pants off MCHS, it’s time to call it a day and cancel this program. Go back 20 years and peek at it’s decline. North Central of Manly puts more bodies on the sidelines. IT’S TIME MC – LONG PAST TIME.
What is sad is in 2018-19 Mason City had a few pretty talented athletes (FB), but they were played out-of-position to the point that they had no chance at a college playing dream. Playing both ways plus and not being able to master a position is the death of most athletes.
Stadium needs upgrades/sound system. This was built in 1980. Invest in showers/coaches area/team area that is attached to the field. MCHS show an effort!
Hell sell banner advertising around the fenced area to pay for the upgrades, this isn’t rocket science.

The new coach has to build the program. He can’t just take the players who are on the team and turn them into something special unless he has kids with the ability to excel and, right now, he doesn’t have that talent. He has a few good athletes but he is starting from scratch. His defense has a number of underclassmen on it, same with the offense. His quarterback is a sophomore who has talent but lacks experience. He will get better and so will the team. I don’t expect it will look better for a while but I am excited to see how he does.
