    At the Shellabration event in Fort Dodge, the actual Cheap Trick and 38 Special, in their band shell. In Mason City, in the huge arena the taxpayers will be paying for the next 100 years, another tribute band, playing somebody else’s songs, aka Fleetwood Mac, badly, backed up by the sucka** Milk and Vomit. Why? Because all the people running our arena events live in Clear Lake and Ventura, and don’t want anything too good, because it would be too much competition for the Surf and other crappy Clear Lake events and venues. There are at least a dozen people in Mason City who could do this better, who would hire better acts, who wouldn’t have an obvious conflict of interest, and wouldn’t siphon off a bunch of the money for themselves.

    Mason City City Hall June 8, 2021
    Mason City, Iowa 4:00 P.M.

    MINUTES
    SPECIAL MEETING
    OF THE CITY COUNCIL

    The City Council of the City of Mason City, Iowa, met in special session pursuant to law and rules of said Council on June 8, 2021, in City Hall at 4:00 p.m. Due to Covid-19, the meeting was held as a virtual meeting via Zoom. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor and on roll being called there were present, Bill Schickel, Mayor in the Chair, and the following Council Members: Adams, Thoma, Jaszewski, Symonds, Lee, Masson. Absent: None.

    Adopt Agenda: Motion, Masson; 2nd, Jaszewski that the agenda be adopted. AYES: All (Motion carried.)

    1. Appoint Brent Hinson as Deputy City Administrator/Finance Director:

    City Administrator: Approval of appointment of Brent Hinson as Deputy City Administrator/Finance Director. With the unexpected passing of long-time Finance Director Kevin Jacobson last month, I have assessed the long-term needs of the City and created a new position of Deputy City Administrator/Finance Director to replace the Finance Director position. The new position will retain all of the existing responsibilities of Finance Director, including managing the Finance function, IT, GIS and grant writing staff. It also formalizes the role of this position as Acting City Administrator in my absence, and will permit me to assign this key manager to act on my behalf for a wide variety of boards, commissions, standing committees, departments and meetings. The job description was evaluated by our external compensation consultant and was recommended to be classified as Grade U under our non-bargaining compensation plan. This is the same pay grade level that earlier this year the Council approved Kevin Jacobson’s pay grade to be reclassified effective 7/1/21. The City began accepting applications for the vacancy on May 21st and commenced a statewide search for qualified candidates. We received multiple applicants for the vacancy, and I reviewed each application. From the list of candidates I interviewed Brent Hinson by phone and made the decision to offer him the position as the most qualified applicant. Mr. Hinson has served as City Administrator for the City of Washington, Iowa since 2011. Prior to serving in Washington, Hinson was City Administrator in Garner, Iowa for six years. He began his professional government sector career serving two years as Finance Director/City Clerk for Iowa Falls, Iowa. For the past seven years he has operated a successful municipal consulting firm for Iowa cities, specializing in executive search, finance, compensation studies, and TIF analysis. Hinson has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Drake University and a Bachelors of Arts degree with a political science major from the University of Northern Iowa. He is a ICMA Credentialed Manager and has served on a number of state, regional and local boards. Hinson’s familiarity with North Iowa, knowledge of the complex field of government finance, experience with the unique needs of municipalities, and his strong passion for public service has prepared him to assist me in leading Mason City through the challenges facing us today. Attached are the specifics of the job offer I have made. Starting salary is at Grade U, Step 7 ($131,186 annually). In addition I have included accelerated vacation and sick pay benefits, and a moving/relocation allowance. If approved, Hinson will assume his new responsibilities on August 9, 2021. The wages for the position are allocated as part of the approved budget. Appointment and approval of appointment of Brent Hinson as Deputy City Administrator/Finance Director at the June 8, 2021 Special Council Meeting.

    Administrator Burnett outlined the process, duties and the recommended candidate.

    Motion, Adams; 2nd, Jaszewski that the recommendation be approved. Discussion followed regarding Mr. Hinson’s duties, getting up to speed, how he would help the Administrator, his top three goals, etc. AYES: All (Motion carried.)

    Adjourn: The Mayor adjourned the meeting at 4:30 P.M.

      Thank Democratic policies and ideologies.

      The Democrats are supposedly the party of the poor/working class. Hence all their policies have to be geared to keep their voter base there, all the while vilifying those that do better.

      They have to make their voter base believe that the party is going to make things better for them, to GIVE them everything they want/need (just dangle the carrot and let the media do the work).

      The Republicans are the party of the”rich” according to the Democrats.
      The party wants small government and personal responsibility, opposite what the Democrats want.
      The Republicans want people to work for what they have/get. This in turn drives a robust economy, unlike under the Democrats.

      With the Republicans being the party of the “rich” they try to help get more people into that economic bracket/realm. Again, the Democrats are supposedly the party of the poor/working class, so to be in power they need to keep their voting base pissed off/ divided from the rest(race, class, sexual pronoun, whatever way they can).

      Well, NIT is talked about, along with little Mattie Markwart.
      He & this shithole website of his are the laughing stock of North Iowa.

        Is that the best that you’ve got, Markwart?
        You never address a comment directly, you always deflect with your usual asinine bullshit.
        The same old douchebag replies by you every time that you are called out for being the complete failure that you are.
        You were born a loser, living your life as a loser and will die a loser.
        That will be appropriate for your epitaph.

          I wonder what in the world Mr. Markwardt did to you to cause you have such anger spend so much time making insulting hateful comments. Did he steal your girlfriend? Punch your grandma? Shoott yto tour dog? Do you think maybe you need to talk to someone about these feelings you can’t seem to get past? If you were my family member or friend I might be really concerned by now that something should be done to get you some help because you don’t seem to moving on with life. It ain’t healthy.

    Soon to be deleted because it is true.

    Over just the past few weeks:

    Congressional Democrats tried to ram HR1/S1 – the dangerous election reform bills that are intended to give the federal government complete control over our state and local elections – through the Senate;
    Joe Biden’s failure of leadership caused the worst gas crisis our country has seen since Jimmy Carter in 1979;
    President Trump’s historic Middle East peace negotiations are being effectively disregarded;
    And Big Tech corporations are STILL censoring millions of conservative Americans for sharing opinions that question the state-sponsored “science” on Covid.

      ha ha ha. As if the Republicans didn’t “ram” anything down our throats when they controlled all 3 bodies – Senate, House and Presidency. The gas crisis isn’t a gas crisis. It is what happens when millions of people can get out and travel. They use cars and cars use gas. Simple, see? The Middle East hates Trump. His negotiations were in his mind. There was little or no negotiations but there was a great deal of pandering. Big Tech censors radical, insurrectionist banter.

      Republicants everywhere are trying to shove “election fraud” down EVERYONE’S throats without proof and are trying legally to prevent anyone who isn’t white and male from voting. We need our right to vote protected from those who are trying to curtail it.

      By the way, remember tRump’s tax cuts for the rich? Talk about shoved down our throats!

        “trying legally to prevent anyone who isn’t white and male from voting.”

        You really are a bit touched in the head. If you believe that drival of a statement above, that YOU wrote, your an idiot.

        If you bothered to actually read the reforms, instead of having them regurgitated and left as an incoherent puddle. Having read a lot of the reforms, I haven’t seen any that are worse than the liberal mecca of NEW YORK.

        Trump tax cuts for the rich you say. How much more of YOUR money did you get to keep? OH, you voluntarily paid in more than you were paying before, right?
        Thought so, lying hypocrite. Just because the Democrats love to tax the life out of EVERYBODY except themselves (they are the ones that add the loopholes, then bitch when others use them), which is why businesses leave the US, paying import duties is cheaper than the tax rates Democrats want to impose.
        Keep voting Democrat, before long, the US as a whole, not just the liberal shitholes, will look like the Russian ghettos of pre- Glasnost(tearing down of the wall(Berlin)).

          trump’s tax cuts benefitted the rich much more than the poor. See the article the other day that Bezos, Buffett, Gates, et al, all paid little to no income tax? Why do you think that is?

        Yes, he is low IQ, because Pinocchio Fauci lied and there are all sorts of emails as proof. Even ones that Fauci wrote himself, just days before/after lying to the public through mainstream media.

        Pinocchio had to follow what his masters in China wanted him to say publicly, otherwise they may have quit giving him money or authority.
