Governor Branstad to tour Knoxville, Iowa today in wake of Wednesday’s storms

KNOXVILLE, IOWA – Gov. Terry E. Branstad and Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Department Director Mark Schouten will survey storm damage today in Knoxville, Iowa.

A possible tornado blew through Knoxville, Iowa, Wednesday, as a large storm system wreaked havoc across much of the state. Police said the city’s WalMart is closed until further notice due to “storm garbage damage” and advised shoppers “do not come out here”.

According to weather.com. injuries were reported in connection with an overturned semi truck on Highway 14 south of Knoxville, and the National Weather Service reported a possible tornado in the area around 3:45 PM.

Governor Branstad will go to the WalMart store 2:30 PM today. Then at
3:00 PM, he will go on a walking tour on South Pine and East Washington Streets to tour the storm damage.
